Distillery

Behlen  |  Weimar an der Lahn

Summerville is produced in the traditional Behlen distillery in Weimar an der Lahn. A small, dreamy place near Marburg in Hesse. The distillery is top in gin production. Landgrave Philipp von Hessen granted the Fortbach estate the right to distill as early as 1753. Since then, spirits have been produced here for generations. Today the manufacturing processes combine traditional skills with state-of-the-art technology.

SV Summerville Gin is distilled in copper stills. This high-quality production also increases the quality of the gin positively. The macerate is then cleaned and unwanted flavors are bound by the copper.

Summerville Gin is gently produced using the direct current method, in a distillation process. Then the finished gin is cooled to zero degrees and filtered. The last possible residues (fatty oils) can be filtered out.

The tangy, berry aroma of SV Summerville Gin comes into its own even better because it refines the juniper portion.

SV Summerville is modern, different.

A Funky, Crazy Gin.

ALEMANIA_SUMMERVILLE_Flavor profile_DE

Summerville Gin has classic elements and combines them extravagantly because they deliberately break with well-known gin traditions. The notes of ten other botanicals were mixed with the wild juniper aromas: Grains of Paradise, violet root, lemon peel, St. John’s wort, fennel, cinnamon bark, galangal root, cardamom, star anise and raspberry. What do international experts say?

“A refreshingly citrus initial nose develops into rhubarb sweetness; elegant and gentle, a lingering presence of orange oils combine with buttery smoothness. The flavours linger well and create a long memorable finish”

With this result, Summerville Gin won the WORLD GIN AWARD 2021 in the category of best German “Contemporary Gin”.
